I put 23 usdt as margin and 40x leverage but my position size is still the same and so my profits are very low than it has to be why is it that way

I've been trading for the day and realised my income have been fairly low I used to be gaing not what I should truly be gaining truly means much less because for some cause my leverage doesn't work are you able to assist me am I doing soemthing fallacious
